The cut is not a matter of style, but rather a function – a baselayer only works in direct contact with the skin, while an outer layer needs space for the layers underneath.

    UV protection keeps harmful UV radiation away from skin and eyes. For clothing, it's indicated as UPF: UPF 45 allows around 2 percent of radiation to pass through, thus blocking over 97 percent. The protection is achieved through the material, density, and color of the fabric and applies to the covered areas. Skinfit sunglasses completely block UV-A and UV-B radiation; the filter category also indicates how much they darken visible light.
